Hey everybody. I wanted to give you a sneak peek into day one of the challenge. So, I decided to release part of the video training for you today as a bonus episode.
If you don’t know what I’m talking about, I’m hosting a free seven day challenge focused on helping you follow your meal plan for one full week. And today, March 14th, is day number one.

Ok. Before I play part of the video training for you, I want to be clear about what this challenge is all about.
Although this is a challenge to help you follow your meal plan, we’re not focusing on the food you’re eating exactly. Because I don’t think that works, especially in the beginning.
Instead, we’re focusing on getting you to genuinely want to follow your meal plan, without any of the crazy diet stuff. You’ll learn how to get yourself there without willpower, without forcing yourself to eat salads or drink your lunches, and without reciting mantras that you don’t really believe.
Our approach is going to be different. We’re focusing on you building trust in yourself. By showing you how to honor your decisions when it comes to food. By showing you how to do what you say you’re going to do. And how to have your own back. That’s what we’re focusing on.
And in order to do that, we start with creating awareness for what’s happening with you right now. What’s leading you to eat off plan. And what’s leading you to overeat. That’s where we start.
And one other thing I want to mention before we hit play. The video training has slides that go along with it. You obviously won’t be able to see the slides as you listen. And that’s ok. It’ll still make sense. But I just wanted to give you a heads up in case the audio sounds weird with a lot of breaks in between sentences.
So, let’s do this. Here’s your sneak peek inside day one of the challenge. I hope you enjoy it and I hope it sparks something inside of you.
Ok. Even though tracking and self-coaching create awareness, I want to warn you upfront that you probably won’t want to do this. You probably won’t want to keep track of things. You probably won’t want to coach yourself. And if you’re feeling hesitant or resistant or anything like that, I want you to know that those feelings are normal. And it’s ok. But don’t let those feelings stop you from at least trying it out during this seven day challenge.
Alright, now that I’ve warned you, let’s get into it. Let’s talk about self-coaching 1.0 and creating awareness around your thoughts. Again, this awareness is exactly what you need to begin the process of habit change, of changing your brain’s reward cycle, of you trusting yourself, and making weight loss easier.
This is the perfect place to start. Let me introduce you to the thought download. Just like you’d go on your computer and download a file or document of some sort. You’re going to go into your brain and sort of download your thoughts. Pretty cool, right?
There’s typically two types of thought downloads. One is the general thought download and the other is the specific thought download. The general one is where you download, or write down, anything and everything that’s in your brain. Basically, any topic. The specific one is where you download, or write down, anything and everything you’re thinking about a specific topic.
During this seven day challenge, we’re going to focus on the specific thought download. And today, we’re going to focus on thoughts about your meal plan. Super specific, right?
Now, if you’re sitting down with a piece of paper in front of you, write down ‘my thoughts about my meal plan’ at the top of the page. Then, do your thought download about that topic. And if you’re skeptical about whether or not this will help you, I want to show you a quick example of what this might look like.
Ok, my thoughts about my meal plan. Here’s a few example thoughts you might have. First, I hate following a meal plan.
I don’t want to eat the foods on my meal plan.
It won’t matter anyways.
This has never worked for me before.
I don’t like feeling restricted to a meal plan.
I want to eat whatever I want, whenever I want.
No one else has to do this.
I don’t need to do this to lose my weight.
Following a meal plan is stupid.
And the last example thought. I probably won’t stick to this very long.
So, do any of these thoughts resonate with you? I’m guessing you can relate to at least one or two of them. Maybe more. And when you sit down and do your own thought download about your meal plan, you might start to see a pattern, which is good for you to know, and it’ll feel so good to get all these thoughts out of your brain and onto paper. It’ll be a relief.
This process creates awareness, like we talked about, it feels amazing, almost like you’re purging these negative, unhelpful thoughts. And it helps you see in black and white, clear as day, why you’re having trouble following your meal plan. You’ll see a pattern. If you’re having thoughts like these, then you’re likely using willpower to lose weight. You’re likely trying to fight these thoughts. Which never works in the long term.
Now, if you listened to that example thought download, and now you’re thinking, “I don’t want to do this. I don’t want to do a thought download myself because I don’t want to see all these negative thoughts in my brain.” If you’re thinking something like this, I hear you. And you’re not alone.
Which is why it’s important to create awareness without judgement. This is necessary. No judging yourself. No judging your thoughts. No judging anything. Just let them be what they are. And if you have any trouble doing that, think of it like a gradual process. So, you might want to quickly turn a light switch on or off, for example, but you might need to use a dimmer light switch and slowly turn the light on or off. It’s the same with judging yourself. You might need to slowly, gradually, practice turning your judging off, like a dimmer light switch. Instead of expecting it to go on or off quickly, like an on or off light switch. It’s totally fine. You do what you need to do to create awareness without judgement.
