Podcast:
Hey, everybody. Welcome to episode 50.

Today, I’m excited to announce something special I’ve got coming up for you. And I’m going to use today’s podcast episode to help you prepare for what’s to come.

Last week I published a podcast episode titled Weight Loss and Mommy Burnout. If you haven’t heard that one, I definitely recommend you go back and listen.

We talked about mommy burnout and how it’s affecting us on three levels. Mental, emotional, and physical. That episode, and everything we talked about, really connected with a lot of women who are overwhelmed and stressed out by everything they’re doing as a mom. And they really feel like that burnout is causing them to eat when they’re not truly hungry, gain or maintain their weight, when weight loss is their goal, and it’s causing them to feel pretty terrible on a regular basis.

If you want to lose weight right now, and you feel like everything you’re doing as a mom is keeping you from your goal, and you feel burnt by everything you’re doing, then I want to help.

So, here’s the big announcement. Here’s how I’m going to help.

Over the next several podcast episodes, I’m going to do something I’ve never done on here before. I’m going to do the next several episodes workshop style.

This means you’re not just going to passively listen to the next few episodes. You’re going to do work. I’m going to guide you through a series of simple things that will have a big effect on your burnout and allow you to start moving through it, instead of staying stuck.

Today’s episode is going to be short and sweet. I’m basically just announcing this workshop, which will all take place on this podcast, and I’m going to give you a little bit of homework to do to prepare for it.

Don’t worry though, it’s not a lot of homework. It’s just you taking the time to answer three questions.

Are you ready? Let’s get used to the workshop style right now. Take out a piece of paper and pen and write down these three questions. If you’re driving or doing dishes or out for a walk or something else, that’s ok. I’ll post these questions in the show notes of this episode and you can get them that way.

Ok. Here are the three questions I want you to write down now and answer before the workshop.

Question one. What is your weight loss goal and when do you want to achieve it?

Question two. What is the one biggest thing standing in your way of achieving your weight loss goal?

And question three. What are the physical things you’re doing, the actions you’re taking, that are causing you to not be successful with weight loss right now?

Now, let’s talk about these questions for a minute.

Question one. What is your weight loss goal and when do you want to achieve it? This question is pretty straightforward. Just make sure your answer is specific and healthy for you.

Question two. What is the one biggest thing standing in your way of achieving your weight loss goal? It’s likely something that has to do with being a mom and is directly contributing to the burnout.

For you, it might be time, making time to lose your weight. For you, it might be energy, having the energy to do the things you want to do to lose your weight. For you, it might be something else.

Time, energy, something else. What is it for you? Get clear and specific with what your obstacle is. Define it. The one biggest thing standing in your way of achieving your weight loss goal.

And question three. What are the physical things you’re doing, the actions you’re taking, that are causing you to not be successful with weight loss right now?

Over the next week, make a list of these things. Take out a piece of paper and pen and just leave it out on your kitchen table or wherever and add to it as you think of things. As you notice yourself doing things. Because a lot of the things you’re doing you may be doing on autopilot. Unconsciously. So, start to notice what those things are and write them down on your piece of paper over the next week.

But, and please hear me on this because it’s really important, I don’t want you to make a big, overwhelming list of everything you’re doing when it comes to your biggest obstacle. Definitely don’t do that.

I want you to get super specific with it. The more specific you can get, the better your results will be from this workshop. And you’ll be able to take what you learn from this specific thing, and apply it to other situations, other obstacles in your life later on. But the more specific you can get with this first one, the better your results will be from this workshop.

So, as an example, if time is your biggest obstacle, I don’t want you to just say, “I don’t have time to lose weight. Time is my biggest obstacle.”   I don’t want you to lump everything you’re doing in your life together into one generic bubble, and just say you don’t have time. Let’s use this workshop, and take this opportunity to unravel time just a little bit for you.

So, figure out the one biggest part of your life, part of your day, where time is standing between you and weight loss success. It might be cleaning your house and the time that takes you. Or it might be doing constant laundry and the time that takes you. Or it might be cooking for everyone and the time that takes you.

Get super specific. Identify the one thing that is taking up a lot of your time, if time is your obstacle, and make a list of the physical things you’re doing, the actions you’re taking, when it comes to cleaning your house or doing constant laundry or cooking for everyone or whatever it is for you.

That’s all I want you to do this week. And you may find that your list only has five things written on it. Or maybe there are ten things. Or maybe there are as many as fifty. I don’t know. Doesn’t matter. What matters is that you feel like this one thing is standing in your way of weight loss success.

We’re going to get into the nitty gritty of this problem you’re having so we can solve that unnecessary eating you might have going on. Approaching weight loss this way, getting to the core of the problem and solving there, is truly going to help you feel more in control around food. And get you to trust yourself around food again.

So, answer these three questions. I’ll repeat them one last time. And remember, you can always look them up on the show notes if that’s easier.

Question one. What is your weight loss goal and when do you want to achieve it?

Question two. What is the one biggest thing standing in your way of achieving your weight loss goal?

And question three. What are the physical things you’re doing, the actions you’re taking, that are causing you to not be successful with weight loss right now?

Get super specific with your answers. And we are going to work through it together in the mommy burnout workshop happening on this podcast over the next several episodes.

Tell all your friends and family members if you think this will help them too.

Alright. That’s it for now. I’m really excited about this. I hope you are too. I’ll talk to you next week at workshop number one. Take care.
